Abbreviations to Know
Whether it is an email or a text message or talking to anyone under the age of 15 – you are bound to come across a 3 or 4-letter acronym that leaves you scratching your head. Here are just a few of the most popular:
- BTW = by the way
- FYI = for your information
- IMHO = in my humble opinion
- BCNU= be seeing you
- AAK = asleep at the keyboard
- TTYL = talk to you later
- NSFW = not safe for work
While these can be time-savers in email, it’s also beneficial to learn these codes to decipher what kids are talking about while online. It might seem silly to learn them, especially if you wouldn’t actually use them but you never know when it might come in handy.
