Welcome President Obama
No matter who you are or what your political beliefs are, today is an important day for our country and all the citizens of our fine country. Today we welcome our new President, Barack Obama, dubbed during his campaigning days as our first “wired” president.
President Obama has vowed to continue communicating with citizens via the Internet, as he did during the campaign. He’s our first president with a Facebook account and has over 1 million MySpace friends. He was also able to capture 13 million email addresses from supporters and donors, expressing that this will allow the people to reach out to him with ideas and concerns, rather than the typical one-way distribution of information to the people.
It doesn’t matter if you attended the inauguration in DC, watched it on television or plan to watch/re-watch it later on YouTube. The important thing to remember is that today we celebrate and tomorrow we’ve all got a lot of work to do.
So take advantage of the technology and the access you have to our government and our leaders – they say they are listening and we can only hope they mean it.
