A Now IT Works True Story

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Imagine that when you woke up this morning, got ready for work and jumped in your car like you always do – it didn’t start. Then you looked in the rear view mirror and spotted your mechanic walking up the driveway with his tools, ready to get you out of a jam. That would be great, right?

If you are a Now IT Works customer – you can have that same sense of relief when it comes to your business technology.

A customer in Norwalk had a server go offline overnight but with our advanced systems, we knew about the problem and had a technician on-site to assist early that morning. The customer was thrilled that, even though the problem occurred, she didn’t have to walk into an emergency situation like this, call the help desk for a support request and wait – Now IT Works was there in a flash!

In the end, there was a problem with the cable connection so the technician made sure the hand-off to the appropriate vendor was smooth and that the customer knew exactly what was going on, each step of the way.

Looking For An E-Fax Solution

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Last week, we had a customer inquire about an e-fax system, which is an online faxing service that processes faxes online and converts them into  email messages. In this case, it would allow all six of their offices to direct faxes to one main online location, but still be separated by office. With the large amount of faxing, both in and out, each day, this solution makes perfect sense.

Some advantages to online faxing include; an end to paper jams, and buying ink, no bulky machine and the ability to fax from just about anywhere.

E-faxing not only increases the speed and ease of faxing but it’s better for the environment than traditional faxing practices!

Do you think an e-fax solution would work for your company? Email info@nowitworks.com for more information on this and other money saving products for your business.

Twitter Outtage Blamed on Lone Blogger

Monday, August 10th, 2009

Towards the end of last week, Twitter began experimenting outages and that were revealed to be the work of a blogger in the former Soviet of Georgia. Twitter users were panicked with the disruption of service, which also slowed down Facebook and LiveJournal.

This attack will undoubtedly raise more questions about the lack of security on social networking sites. Currently, Twitter has implemented technology to protect against the denial of service attacks but it is slowing down access to the site.

Marines Ban Social Networking

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

Effective immediately, the U.S. Marines have banned social networking access for soldiers, including Twitter, Facebook and MySpace. The move is being made to avoid “information exposure” and “elevated risk of compromise” to military personnel due to low security and filtering, by these social networking websites.

Cybraphon Robot Wants to “Friend” Us All!

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

The Cybraphon is a creation by three friends, that plays musical tones and harmonies based on, sadly enough, how much online approval it is garnering. When online attention is high, the Cybraphon lets out a beautiful melody but when the internet audience dwindles, the Cybraphon gets sad – and sounds like it too.

To read more about this interesting invention and how the creators say it’s an exercise in “people’s obsession with online celebrity” – click here.  (Source: CNN)
