Now IT Works True Story

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

Here at the Now IT Works office, we are always ready to handle any problem that our clients encounter and today was no different. A local business owner, who has been a Now IT Works customer for just over a year, called in a panic today. He knew the pop-ups and warnings on his screen could spell big trouble for his laptop and his productivity for the day.

In no time at all, we were able to clean out any infected files on his laptop and get him back up and running, without having to send a technician on-site.

Thanks to the immediacy of social networking, we even received feedback from the client this afternoon:

This morning I came in and my computer was under heavy attack from viruses, malware, and other nasty monsters.  I’m pretty sure that it may have caught fire had it gone much longer.  Thank you Now It Works for saving the day.  It’s working perfectly.”

We always appreciate hearing from our clients – thank you Mike!

Now IT Works Technology Upgrade

Monday, February 28th, 2011

To start off 2011, we decided to invest in some new & exciting technology for our own infrastructure. Here is how we have improved because of it:

  • Reduction of hardware; from 6 servers down to 3
  • Increased speed by 35%
  • More efficient fail-over strategy
  • Savings of approximately $3,000 in taxes

Here is an article that talks a little bit more about the last bullet point – a Cinderella tax break which is set to boost IT sales this year. (Computer World)

Digging Out in Connecticut

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

For us here at Now IT Works and our clients all around New England, the last couple of days there has been little else on everyone’s minds besides snow! We are still digging out but luckily, we are able to set up remote access for our clients so that their employees can work from home. Not only is this helpful during times of inclement weather but remote access can help reduce gas costs, employee expenses and overhead.

Contact your account manager if you would like to discuss remote work environments for your employees.

Is Your Business Protected Against CyberCrime?

Monday, November 8th, 2010

Cybercrime is on the rise, according to a report released by Panda Security. Based on a survey of 1,532 American businesses and 7,083 global companies, the current rise in cybercrime is due to poor security practices.

  • 36% of U.S. small businesses use free security solutions that are designed for home use
  • 31% operate without any anti-spam tools
  • 23% lack anti-spyware (yes, this is different from anti-spam)
  • 15% haven’t gotten around to setting up a firewall

Over 50% of security breaches are from the Internet and/or email, with another 14% coming from infected downloads. The good news is that these breaches are preventable.

These risks can be minimized by having a dedicated IT resource like Now IT bluesteel_shieldWorks in your corner. A whooping 29% of small and medium sized businesses surveyed didn’t have any IT resources at all!
